EQUESTRIAN CLUBS & PARKS

Horse riding enthusiasts can ride or watch equestrian competitions or a game of polo at the following venues

ROYAL SELANGOR POLO CLUB

The Royal Selangor Polo Club was established in 1902 and founded in Klang. In the 1960s, it moved to its present location at Ampang Hilir in Kuala Lumpur after the then Prime Minister, Tunku Abdul Rahman, granted the club a lease of 26 acres of state land amidst old tin mining pools. The club is the venue for most polo matches for the regional members of the Malaysian Polo Association. The season starts as early as February up until September, with the Malaysian Polo Association League that includes teams from Singapore, Thailand as well as other states and neighbouring clubs. You might get to watch matches as good as ones in Polo country, Argentina, as most teams will have the Argentine players in for their high goal matches. The club has a riding school and a thriving RDA branch (Riding for the Disabled) run by volunteers and funded by riders as well as fans through Polo Matches, Charity Balls and other fund-raising activities.

BUKIT KIARA EQUESTRIAN & COUNTRY RESORT

In the 80s several riding centres were established to complement the robust development in the Klang Valley. The Bukit Kiara Equestrian and Country Resort is a complete equestrian and sports club with the largest indoor riding arena in the region, a polo field and several riding paddocks. One can apply for membership at the resort, which also offers riding packages for non-members.

PUTRAJAYA EQUESTRIAN PARK  - Presint 5

The latest addition and grandest of them all is the Putrajaya Equestrian Park, which boasts two polo fields, training arenas, paddocks and a complete stadium. It also houses offices, comprehensive facilities for athlete riders, quarters for staff and is considered by many to have the best arenas and footing to ride on. The Putrajaya Equestrian Park has hosted the Premier Cup event for three years, a complete show with Competition Classes to suit all levels of riding abilities that run concurrently in all the fields - a truly exciting and thrilling event.

Polo tournaments are also staged regularly in tandem with the ever growing polo community in Malaysia. The Putrajaya Equestrian Park is nestled in Putrajaya, the country?s new administrative centre. It is an hour?s drive from Kuala Lumpur and is situated near the Putrajaya International Convention Centre. Take a few minutes and get a guide to show you around this facility, or even better, check the calendar of equestrian events and meet horse loving friends and fans during shows.
