Its popular night market is a daily feature. This is a good place to purchase Chinese artifact like figurines, incense-holders, paintings, joss-sticks and bric-a-brac. Other interesting items include herbs for traditional remedies and sweetmeats. Aged craftsmen at work in their shop houses can be seen producing goods such as lanterns, tin ware and calligraphy items along the streets. Shops here stock a variety of textiles, clothes, shoes and handbags. CENTRAL MARKET

Central Market is located at Jalan Hang Kasturi, which is within walking distance from Petaling Street (Chinatown), Kotaraya, Dayabumi and the Klang Bus Station. It is easily accessible either by bus or train (LRT or Commuter) and it is also within walking distance from the Star LRT Masjid Jamek Station.

 

Built in 1889, Central Market, popularly known as CM, was originally a wet market. It is now a landmark for Malaysian culture and heritage and has been classified as a Heritage Site by the Malaysian Heritage Society. Here you will find all kinds of souvenir items and keepsakes ? batik products, ceramic crafts, woven baskets, wooden items such as chopsticks, mirror and combs, traditional attire and a variety of handicrafts. Some are authentic, some are unique and others are just must-haves.

 

 

CM also has a special gallery called the Annexe. The Annexe Gallery is a not-for profit centre for contemporary arts. It is also a platform for young and veteran artists to express themselves in performance and fine arts. It hosts a variety of events, including exhibitions, film screenings, workshops, theatre and music performances, dance classes, and literary talks.
