Kampung Peta - Getting There

GETTING THERE

There are two gateways. The most popular is from the town of Kahang via Kluang. Again, a four wheel drive vehicle is required. Your first 15km or so is through plantations while the last 20km is across a bumpy track through virgin rainforests to Kampung Peta, an orang asli village. The second entrance from Johor is from the town of Bekok near Segamat, which also necessitates a four-wheel drive vehicle.

There is another way to get to Kampung Peta and this involves a boat journey from the lower Endau River just south of Kuala Rompin.

By Road

The entry point to the Endau Rompin National Park is about 7km from Kahang town or about 210km from Johor Bahru city centre. The 50km journey from the entry point involves travelling through oil palm plantation roads, more than 30 crossings over rivers, streams and ravines, and weaving over 20km of challenging forest tracks. Travelling by a four-wheel-drive or other suitable vehicle is thus highly recommended.

By River

This 3-hour boat ride along the Endau River starts at Felda Nitar II in Endau, Mersing (by special arrangement). This route is subject to availability of boats, water level and weather conditions.

From Kuala Lumpur(KL) / Johore Bahru (JB)

The fastest route is via the north-south highway. Exit at Ayer Hitam or Simpang Renggam, proceed to Kluang and then to Kahang. Follow the signage and travel a further 7km to reach the main entry point to the park. From the entry point, it?s a further 53km to the park headquarters at Kampung Peta.

Public transport From KL or JB

Take a train or express bus to Kluang. Then hop on take a local bus or taxi to Kahang. Prior arrangements can be made with JNPC, to have if you require a transport operator pick you up from Kahang or any point between JB, KL or Mersing and ferry drive you into the park.

  • Please register at the JNPC branch office in Kahang before proceeding into the park.

  • We advise the use of four-wheel drive (4WD) vehicles for your journey into the park.

  • 4WD transport for hire may be arranged in advance.
