BESUT

 
 

Besut is the northern-most district in Terengganu and it borders with Kelantan.  The commercial hub is Jertih while Kampung Raja is the administrative centre.  Boat services to the panoramic Pulau Perhentian are available at Kuala Besut Jetty..  Besut has much to offer to tourists and visitors.  Besut is also home to a thriving cottage industry that includes wood-carving, leather crafts and rattan-weaving.  In addition to all that, the people of Besut are also famous for their friendliness, warmth and charms.

 
 

BUKIT KELUANG BEACH

 

Only a few kilometers away from Besut and about 140 km north of Kuala Terengganu is Bukit Keluang, a peaceful beach park perfect for family outings. Discover the caves in the vicinity and be enchanted by the walkways that lead to them. The beach's rocky outcrop and caves afford a view, which is one of the most breathtaking in the country. Its geography also includes a river, which flows out to the sea, as well as thick cover of the rainforest.  Besides that, it is a pleasant retreat for swimming, snorkeling and windsurfing activities. With such diverse features, the beach was chosen as the site for the 18th Asia-Pacific Regional Jamboree, which was held in August 1997.

LATA TEMBAKAH WATERFALLS

 

The Lata Tembakah Waterfalls is located at Besut district which is about 20 minutes drive from Besut town, offers nature activities for a healthy mind and body.  It is located in the Pelagat Forest Reserve in Besut. The sprawling 300 square hectares is blessed with a beautiful seven-tiered cascading waterfall with its highest point reaching 50 meters. LATA BERANGIN WATERFALLS & LA HOT SPRINGS

 

Located about 40 km from Besut, it is easily assessable by all forms of road transport. The Caressing Lata Berangin is an ideal spot to rest after a tiring and strenuous jungle trekking.  The Uniqueness of this Hot Spring which appears between the rocks makes the area a very popular recreational Park in the East Coast. LATA BELATAN RECREATIONAL FOREST

Reputation for being an ideal picnic spot among the locals especially during weekends and school holidays. There are many boulders here, serving as walkways leading to the cool, clear streams. AIR TAWAR BEACH

WOOD CARVING

 

One of the oldest crafts in the country, the craftsmen of Besut have long mastered this skill and have created designs that are original.  Their carvings are usually inspired by nature and floras as well as the Islamic arts.  Many of their work are unmatched by today's modern technology and it is a matter of passion that drive them to create such unique and exquisite designs unmatched and withstood the rest of time. BESUT JETTY

The jetty is situated in Kuala Besut serves as a disembarking point for visitors enroute to Pulau Perhentian (kecil & Besar Island).  At the jetty, ample parking space are available as well as souvenir shops and restaurants. Boat services operates till the evening for the convenience of late-arrivals but should the water turns choppy, it is advisable to stay overnight at few budget hotels in Kuala Besut.

 
 

PULAU PERHENTIAN BESAR & KECIL ISLAND
