SAIL SOUTHERN PENINSULA

The state of Johor is the best known as the southern gateway to Peninsular Malaysia.  The island nation of Singapore is located across the causeway to the south of the capital, Johor Bahru.  Johor Bahru is an active commercial centre and gateway to the state's many attractions.  It has excellent shopping and international hotels and restaurants for sampling Malaysia's delicious culinary delights.

Johor has many natural and cultural attractions including 30 golf courses, near-deserted islands off the East Coast, long beaches, waterfalls, fishing villages, Endau-Rompin National Park and various agricultural attractions.  To the north, Gunung Ledang at 1,276m is popular with mountain climbers and campers. The state has an extensive coastline, protected sandy bays and tropical islands to make it an ideal destination for yachters.  These islands are known as the Mersing Group and include Aur, Sibu Besar, Tinggi and Rawa Islands.
