LUMUT : Teluk Batik Beach

TELUK BATIK BEACH

LUMUT

Teluk Batik also has the country?s first inland

Snorkeling Park...

Yet another attraction, which is not exactly in Lumut is Teluk Batik, some 13km from town. Offering a kilometre of white, sandy beach that ends with huge rocks on both ends, this is a favourite place for visitors, especially during weekends. Nice rest shades provide relief from midday heat and the thick shadow of mature casuarina trees help cool the atmosphere.

There is always a nice breeze here and the scenery is superb as there is a wall of forested hills behind while beyond, the green sea breaks to reveal the lovely Pangkor island. The sea here is clean and ideal for bathing, swimming, fishing, and wind surfing. Many visitors come to picnic by the beach. There are also several food and souvenir stalls selling batik and beachwear as well as other interesting local products.

One interesting new addition at Teluk Batik is its Muzium Siput or Seashell Museum opened last year and highlighting a vast range of seashells from the common cockle to the Golden Cowries and the Australian Trumpet, which is the largest Gastropod in the world. Opened daily except Tuesdays, visiting hours are 10am to 1pm and 2pm to 6pm. Entrance tickets are RM2.00 for adults and 50 cent for children.
