The World's Highest & Asia's First

VIA FERRATA

EXPERIENCE ADVENTURES... DIFFERENTLY!

Mountain Torq is the world?s highest and Asia?s first via ferrata (or ?iron road? in Italian). Rising from 3,200m to 3,800m, the via ferrata is located near the summit of Mt Kinabalu in Sabah, BORNEO MALAYSIA. Mountain Torq enables people of all ages to enjoy climbing Mt Kinabalu?s rock faces, taking them on alternative routes to view the mountain from a totally different angle.

WHAT IS VIA FERRATA?

A via ferrata is a mountain path consisting of a series of rungs and cables embracing the rock face, creating a protected pathway that everyone can walk on. It allows access to scenic sections of the mountain normally accessible only to rock climbers and mountaineers. The Mountain Torq via ferrata offers all participants the excitement of coming up close with Mt Kinabalu and experiencing stunning views of its peaks and valleys.

DO YOU KNOW?

  • At 3,800m, Mountain Torq is the world?s highest and Asia?s very first via ferrata.

  • The first via ferrata was used by military troops in World War I to move around in the Italian Alps.

  • Anyone, aged 10 to 70, can climb the Mountain Torq via ferrata.

  • Mountain Torq is South East Asia?s first mountaineering training centre.

  • Mountain Torq is located on Mt Kinabalu, a world heritage site renowned for its rich plant and animal diversity.

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW

Via ferrata is not rock climbing! But you can experience what has traditionally been only available to rock climbers. Via ferrata climbing can be done by anyone who can climb ladders and enjoy mountain hiking.

What are the top 3 things I have to do in Borneo?

  1. Experience Mountain Torq, the world?s highest and Asia?s first via ferrata.

  2. Summit the highest point between New Guinea and the Himalayas.

  3. Visit Mt Kinabalu Park - a world renowned geologically rich site for plant and animal life forms.
